Storage is not patritioned by date, unable to purge

Nikos Oct 08, 2014 10:00AM PDT

Hello,

I get the following error when trying to purge my storages:

Storage "storage name" is not patritioned by date, unable to purge

In the partitioning tab of storage properties no field is selected and I cannot select the date one, cause it is grayed out.

Thank you in advanced.
Nikos

Hi Nikos,

The date field is selected by default when importing as a partitioned field.
This means the data is optimized and sorted for date time operations.

If however this field has been unchecked on the partition tab of the Import Logs wizard it would result in no partitioning taking place on the date field.
Once the data is imported we are unable to repartition the data without re-importing; which is why it is greyed out and you are unable to select it.

As the purge function operates on date time ranges it requires the date partition so it can purge the date range correctly.
This is why it is unable to function.

Options:
1) Start again with a new storage and re-import that data (with the date field selected as the partition).
2) Perhaps use a filter to remove the dates/times in question when generating a report.

Let us know if you require any further assistance. :)
